JANNE VANHANEN & JEREMY TURNER
For the Free-Manifesta festival, Janne Jussi Mikael Vanhanen (Finland)
and Jeremy Owen Turner (Canada/England/Ladonia) will be personally installing
their pocket sized digital-audio miniatures by traveling around the public
and semi-private venues throughout the Frankfurt am Main downtown core
and its environs using found audio amplification equipment (discman, stereo,
PA system etc) to realize their pieces.
HOW TO LOCATE
Janne and Jeremy will be traveling around
the Frankfurt am Main area as pedestrians/tourists. The exact venue changes
every day and is decided spontaneously by Janne and Jeremy. The best way
to experience this project is to connect with Janne and Jeremy in person
via the Free Manifesta office. There might be an advance venue listing
available via Sal Randolph.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Janne Vanhanen first met Jeremy Turner
when he gave his lecture on his essay "Loving the Ghost in the Machine"at
the "Refrains Advanced Aesthetics Conference"hosted at the University
of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada in 2001. Impressed with his articulate
and enthusiastic grasp on the theoretical underpinnings of the same styles
of composition Jeremy has also been engaged with since 1998, Jeremy interviewed
Janne on the subject for C-Theory.http://www.ctheory.net/text_file.asp?pick=323
Jeremy and Jane are curators for the 536 International Artist Collective.
Janne curates the Helsinki Wallet Gallery while Jeremy Co-Curates the

If people would like to apply to the Digital Pocket Gallery and/or work
