RYAN
GIBSON & MASON DIXON The site's point of entry poses an undeniable threat to any fanatic or ideologue who can not tolerate opposing viewpoints, and as such the site becomes a haven for uncomfortable discourse aimed at cultural growth. The nodes of expression range in subject from digitally manipulated imagery to computer games, transgender to electronic warfare, animation to installation, pornography to politics. Each is presented in a way that parallels the intent of its message; some focusing on educating, others on documenting, while others contribute artistic material to the use's life through downloadable media and web-based applications. HOW TO LOCATE VISIT ON THE WEB ABOUT THE ARTISTS In the early nineties, Ryan Gibson and Mason Dixon began collaborating on projects that explored the possibilities of technology in art performance. In 1997 they joined with DJ Cookie, a well-known Austin DJ, to form the realtime multimedia performance group, digital?confusion. D?C performs at art museums, galleries, film festivals, and concerts with a unique blend of video technology and computer software to create content on the fly during live performances. Using the technology for its original purpose, information warfare, Kill The President empowers itself to create a public space for art and artists that exists outside of concerns of administration or profitability. |
