The video shows the intersection of different activities in the same space. The antique show, as well as the basketball and football matches, are taking place in a gymnasium. Via video editing, those activities are merged into one event which is both coherent and absurd.

The fire engine, the oil paintings, furniture and ceramic sculptures are displayed among sports equipment thus creating a new territory in which spiritual and physical levels intersect.

Video prikazuje ukrstanje razlicitih aktivnosti i jednom istom prostoru. Salon antikviteta, kosarkaski i fudbalski mecevi odvijaju se u istoj hali. Kroz video montazu, te aktivnosti su stopljene u jedinstveni dogadjaj, podjednako koherentan koliko i absurdan.

Vatrogasna kola, uljane slike, namestaj i keramicke skulpture, poredjani su oko sportskih sprava, stvarajuci na taj nacin novu "teritoriju" na kojoj se ukrstaju duhovni i materijalni planovi.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Igor Antic was born in Novi Sad (Serbia) in 1962. His site-specific work aims to explore and highlight the economic and political forces operating within a given context. Antic creates objects and situations as physical "grids", beyond which emerges the social, cultural or geografical context of the chosen site.

After studies at the Novi Sad Fine Arts Academy, Antic attended the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts and the Institute des Hautes Etudes en Arts Plastiques (Paris). In 1995, he founded the Pokret Encounter Centre in Novi Sad.

Igor Antic has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Europe, America and Asia. He has recently held one-man shows at the Chinati Foundation (Texas), La Chambre Blanche (Quebec), Terrasson (France) and Escpace d'art contemporain de HEC (Paris).


Igor Antic je rodjen u Novom Sadu 1962. Njegovi radovi IN SITU nastoje da istraze i osvetle ekonomske i politicke snage koje operisu u datom kontekstu: Antic stvara predmete i situacije kao fizicku "resetku" kroz koju se citaju socijalni, kulturni ili geografski kontekst izabranog mesta.

Posle studija na Kademiji umetnosti u Novom Sadu, Antic je pohadjao Beaux-Arts i Institut visokih studija likovnih umetnosti u Parizu. 1995 je osnovao Centar susreta Pokret u Novom Sadu.

Igor Antic je ucestvovao na brojnim grupnim izlozbama u Evropi, Americi i Aziji. Nedanvo je prikazao samostalne izöozbe u Chinati Foundation (Teksas), La Chambre Blanche( Kvebek), Terrassonu (Francuska) i u Espace d'art contemporain HEC (Pariz).
